This was a fairly standard sofa set, consisting of a sofa, and a loveseat. The old fabric was due for an update. I believe we also replaced all the seat cushions as well.
I have only one before photo, and I had already started to remove the skirt from the sofa.
I did not get any before photos of this chair, but the fabric was plain red. This chair is a fairly simple one, but this particular one needed new foam badly.
Upholstery foam doesn't last forever. The general lifespan tends to be 10-20 years. After too long, the foam tends to do one of two things: It either gets really soft, or it turns to dust.
This chair was the latter:
The chair frame was fixed and touched-up, and new foam installed. Here is the after:
These 4 different chairs all got a matching black and white treatment with contrasting piping. These included two blue chairs, a green reclining wing chair, and a plaid reclining wing chair. Three of the chairs went white and the fourth went black. The legs were also repainted in coloured lacquer.
Before Photos:
Chair 1 After:
I forgot to take "before" photos of the 4th chair (the second reclining wing chair) but I took one or two in-progress photos as I was taking the old fabric off.
This project falls into our 'repair and restoration' umbrella. We mainly do upholstery, here at Lefebvre's Upholstery, but we also do refinishing and repairs. There are a lot of projects that don't get photographed. This was was interesting.
This trunk was built as a vertical standing trunk, with an extending clothes rod. The client wanted the trunk cleaned up a bit (gold and black paint touched-up, ratty cloth removed where loose, missing nails or rivets replaced) and he wanted the clothes rod removed, and for the interior of the trunk to be lined with cedar, for use as a cedar chest.
You can see that this end (the top) has a curved hump in it.
AFTER:
The borders of the remaining canvas near the edges were lightly trimmed, and painted black before the new cedar lining was installed. The same was done for the lid.
This is a well made older (but not terribly old) sprung-seat chair in need of new upholstery. I didn't get a before photo, and this was done almost a year ago, so I don't recall what the previous fabric was. Maybe red? I believe we refinished the frame as well.
Here is the chair with the seat springs re-tied on new webbing.
